Hi, I’m Kimberly Goerss from North Tonawanda, New York. I’ve been an LPN for eleven years and am presently working in home care.
I really enjoy the Rue study guides. I feel that it gives us a really good outline to the exact materials for that particular study system, and it prepares me very well for each exam. Also, I really like the final exam at the end. It brings the entire system together so you don’t forget what you had learned in the first chapter.
I had looked at a couple different study systems and I really found Rue to be the best. They had a lot of different ideas, and the actual study guide gave you the questions, the research ... you'll find very helpful for directly what you need to know.
I really enjoy the Mentor Connection on the website. That is probably the best motivation, the best support system with other students helping. We all have our own little issues and problems, and we can kind of work them out together, and you feel like you always have somebody to touch base with if you have a question. They give you so much information -- other students helping students. Depending where you are in the program, you could have just started or you could be finishing up - everybody is there for each other.
My family’s very proud of me. It is tough sometimes when you are studying and you have to tell the kids, “Not right now, I can’t do that.” But my family is very supportive, and when they see those A’s coming home then they know that I am working hard and it is going to be worth it at the end. Studying can be a little difficult at times when you do have a job, and a family, and trying to live your life, but that’s the great thing about this program. You can pick it up and put it down whenever you need to.
I needed all of the nursing courses as well as Microbiology. With a traditional college it would take two years to complete the courses, but with Rue, I can do it in nine months. Again, this is Kimberly Goerss and I wish everyone good luck. Pretty soon I will be able to say, “Yes, I’m the RN.”
